THE CONSTELLATIONS
What is a constellation? The Oxford English dictionary defines a constellation as "a group of stars forming a recognizable pattern that is traditionally named after its apparent form or identified with a mythological figure". Today, modern astronomers have divided the sky into eighty-eight constellations with defined boundaries.
In this page, the maps to all constellations mentioned in the "Photo Gallery" are provided. More constellations will be added as more photos are added to the Gallery. These maps were created by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in collaboration with Sky & Telescope magazine.
